- <p> DIED. MARVIN THRONEBERRY, 60, baseball player, of cancer; in
- Fisherville, Tennessee. A journeyman major leaguer from 1958
- through 1963 whose career tally of 53 home runs and 170 RBIS
- would have made one great season, the ironically dubbed Marvelous
- Marv vaulted to fame as the steadying elder of the hapless 1962
- New York Mets, 40-120 in their debut year. His good humor won
- him ad spots for Miller Lite beer. His tag line: "I still don't
- know why they asked me to do this commercial.
